Though long ago in the Golden Age five races once dwelled together in the harmony that the Gods intended, the times have grown dark, their shadows long and unrelenting, and only three of the five remain as guardians of their land. ----m a n The humans are as most would expect, and though nomads and outsiders among their ranks dot the varied landscapes of the Realms, their homelands lie primarily in the valleys of the south, within the walls of the kingdom Talor and the cultural city of Taliss. Though the culture of the humans is wide and varied, it is predominately defined by the pursuit of the scholarly and the veneration of Thanas, Lord of the Gods; fitting, as the human realm is home to both the Library of Taliss as well as Elden, the site of the Grand Cathedral of Thanas. ----j u n a To the north and the west lie the Juna, foxlike humanoids renowned as much for their swiftness in battle as for their playful, festive nature. Unlike the other races, the Juna follow a matriarchal order; as such, though they recognize Thanas as Lord of the Gods it is Aelvir and Rianys, the Moon Goddesses, and Lorriana, Goddess of Earth, to whom the Juna often pledge as their patron deities. Juna are rarely people of raw power, and as such they usually rely on their agility and precision to carry them through battle as opposed to sheer might. ----r a i h u And it is the eastern lands, rolling deserts and dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see, where the heat of the sun boils away the very sweat from a traveler's brow, that the Raihu, the saurian race, call home. The Raihu bear many curious horns on their heads; however, these are neither ornamental nor weapons, but instead the focal point of the Raihu's own unique language. The horns are hollow inside, and when combined with their unique double-nostrils, the many chambers within each horn allow the Raihu to make a wide variety of hoots, whistles and other tones that serve as the Raihu's own language. They are a nomadic species, proud and war-like, shaped by the harsh lands they thrive in. ---------------------- It is from these three races that heroes and even villains shall hail from to determine the course of their world, and it is these three who together might yet herald the world's salvation. but who, should they ever forget their peace, bring forth the doom the ancients had feared for so long. |
